EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) psychotherapy is used to reduce the level of emotional distress caused by past trauma. It is particularly effective for disorders in which emotional response is "triggered" by events and situations. Although EMDR is most well known as an effective treatment for PTSD, it used to heal a wide variety of past trauma symptoms, from mild to severe.
Reoccuring distress and situational triggers don't have to be something you just live with. EMDR integrates well with a wide range of therapies for most types of people. Even if you've tried talk therapy or mindfulness without much progress, EMDR works differently. Don't write yourself off till you've given it a try.
